Energy companies participating in international oil and gas conference
Atlantic Canada’s energy leaders will be in Scotland September 8-11, 2009, on an IBDA-funded trade mission to attend one of the largest offshore oil and gas gatherings in the world.
A delegation of 15 Atlantic Canadian companies is being recruited by the Offshore/Onshore Technologies Association of Nova Scotia (OTANS) to exhibit at the Offshore Europe exhibition and conference. Delegates will be offered the services of a matchmaker for one-on-one meetings.

Atlantic food and beverage companies return to North Carolina
The Atlantic Food and Beverage Processors Association (AFBPA) is coordinating a trade mission to North Carolina, September 14-18, 2009.
This South Eastern U.S. market (Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, Tennessee) is shown to have market growth potential for the Atlantic Canadian food industry. This is the second IBDA-funded mission to the region.
Eight to twelve companies will be recruited to participate in this project which will include training, mentoring, matchmaking, aftercare and networking opportunities.

Festival helps Atlantic film artists bring work to silver screen
The 2009 Atlantic Film Festival will be held September 17-26, 2009 in Halifax, NS with two key events supported by the IBDA.
Strategic Partners provides a venue for producers to find national and international partners for potential projects through a series of panels, keynotes speakers, broadcaster sessions, networking events, screenings and one-on-one meetings.
Inspired Series provides a venue for the review of scripts, documentary films and music through a series of panels, master classes, keynotes and training opportunities.

ONGOING PROJECTS
Atlantic Canada’s aerospace industry developing brand
The Atlantic Alliance of Aerospace and Defence Association (AAADA), through Aerospace PEI (APEI), has undertaken a pan-Atlantic branding and marketing initiative, with funding support from IBDA.
Under Phase 1 of the project, APEI will engage a team of professionals to develop the creative direction for the sector’s brand in Atlantic Canada and related marketing materials. Phase 2 will involve the development of a website for the AAADA. The project is expected to be completed by the end of September 2009.

Training program helps exporters succeed on international stage
A one-year high level sales training program to help Atlantic Canadian exporters to succeed in export markets is nearing completion.
Led by Nova Scotia Business Inc. and delivered by Sandler Sales Institute, with financial assistance from the IBDA, this pilot project has provided tools and resources to enhance participants’ export capabilities.
The program began with one-day workshops, held in seven locations across Atlantic Canada, followed by 40 weeks of phone training session, as well as one-on-one coaching.
