Atlantic Innovation Fund

Launched in 2001, the Atlantic Innovation Fund (AIF) is helping Atlantic Canadians compete in a global knowledge-based economy through the development of new ideas, technologies, products and markets.

AIF funding is provided to selected eligible projects through a series of competitive funding rounds. Under seven rounds, a total of 247 projects have been approved, committing $636.9 million in AIF funding towards projects valued at over $1.4 billion.

On May 5, 2010, the Honourable Keith Ashfield, Minister of National Revenue, Minister of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and Minister for the Atlantic Gateway launched a new round of AIF funding.

The deadline for mandatory letters of intent was June 15, 2010, and the deadline for the submission of project proposals was September 1, 2010The latest round is closed and proposals will be evaluated during the coming weeks.
